It’s a Slice of Heaven in Paradise – Victoria House
It’s a slice of Heaven in Paradise – Victoria House, a long-standing island resort on Ambergris Caye that has come to establish itself as a prestigious resort on the island. To my excitement, Ambergris Today was invited to enjoy an overnight stay at the famous resort where I had always visited on lazy Sunday afternoons with my friends – sipping on Bailey’s Coladas at the Admiral Nelson Bar, strolling on their white sandy beaches and enjoying a dip in the sea off their dock.
As an islander I had always enjoyed Victoria House’s exceptional service and hospitality at their Admiral Nelson Bar and Palmilla Restaurant. Now I was given the prestigious opportunity to be a guest in one of their luxury rooms and experience Victoria House like hundreds of visitors and tourists do.
The name “Victoria House” always carries an air of prestige wherever they are represented or in any social conversation. It has not been long since the resort was upgraded from small Plantation rooms to a ten acre private retreat with forty-two accommodations. Now it boasts additional Casitas, Suites, Villas and even complete homes to accommodate large families.
Victoria House still calls itself a small and exclusive resort that has retained the casual ambience and outstanding staff that make it a true Belizean experience. A true slice of Heaven! I would go far enough to call it the Garden of Eden, as the entire property is surrounded by a lush tropical garden with tall swaying palm trees second to none on the island. An army of gardeners take care of the perfectly manicured lawn and well groomed flowering trees and shrubs from sunrise to sunset.
From the 6p.m. private golf cart pick up at our office, complimentary welcome drink at the reception area and superb hospitality of the staff, service was exceptional. My accommodations awaited after cocktails at the bar and superb dinner. (Restaurant Review – Click Here)
Dorian At Casa Del Sol
“Sweet, sweet, slumber was uninterrupted by the humming sound of the waves crashing on the reef just outside my window. I was enveloped in a passion of softness as I travelled to dreamland, enjoying one of the best night’s sleeps I ever had. Sweet, blissful, serenity at the Casa Del Sol with a morning view like no other.”
Casa Del Sol is a spacious three-bedroom fully air-conditioned traditional plantation style house. The ground floor is home to the master bedroom and features a customized bamboo queen bed and a large en suite bathroom with a Mexican style walk-in shower and double vanity. The living room, dining room and kitchen all open to an oversized covered verandah furnished with locally crafted wicker and mahogany furniture. Upstairs, two privately accessed bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and king bed. A shared balcony overlooks the beach and barrier reef. The lower level of this lovely casa can be taken as a Master Suite with the bedroom, kitchen & living area.
Delsie at La Casita
“It was an experience like no other. I was in total awe when I saw my cute little bungalow. Being in the room itself felt like I was in another country and when I stepped outside, it was like: ‘Wow, I am in Paradise.’ Enjoying the stars while sipping on a nice piña colada gave me an extra tropical feeling. The service rendered to us was a great one. It felt like a true vacation. Thank you very much to the entire staff of Victoria House for making our stay a great one and giving us an early Christmas gift.”
Greet a stunning sunrise from the private verandah of a charming thatch-roofed casita. Each one is decorated with locally handcrafted mahogany beds draped in custom mosquito netting allowing you to enjoy the cool evening breezes. For those that prefer air-conditioning each Casita is centrally cooled. There are seven Casitas facing the Caribbean and are separated by only a white sand beach and a wide expanse of verdant lawn and bougainvillea. The Casitas are furnished with a queen bed.
Gerry at the Plantation Room
“Victoria House should be called the victorious home in paradise because as I arrived I was greeted by all the friendly staff & kindly escorted to my suite. As I set foot into the beachfront ocean view room I was blown away with excitement. My relaxation at my home started off by sitting outside enjoying the starry skies taking in the great outdoor environment. Later I moved to the AC ventilated living room area where I sat on a very comfy couch listening to some tranquil music as I sipped on a frappucino from the amazing restaurant just below my room. Soon it was time for bed on a little piece of Heaven in Paradise, where indeed to me it’s the perfect place for a king. I conclude by quoting from the warm welcome letter in the suite “Whether this is your first visit to Victoria House or you’ve returned to friendly, familiar faces, welcome to your home in Belize. We’re here to make your vacation a truly memorable one…”
Eight Plantation Rooms are located in two unique buildings facing the beach surrounded by tropical bougainvillea and hibiscus filled gardens and tall swaying palms. Each room features a private entrance and verandah with lovely views of the gardens, pool and beach. All rooms have plantation style interiors with either a queen or king size bed draped in custom-made linen canopies. Another six Plantation rooms are available in the villas and main hotel. All Plantation Rooms are fully air-conditioned.
Sofia at Villas at Victoria House
“A night in Paradise! The suite I stayed in was truly fit for a king, or in my case a queen! The corridor outside had two comfortable chairs with a view of the amazing and one of a kind infinity pool and patio. As I opened the glass sliding doors and entered the room I couldn’t avoid staring up at the hardwood high ceiling and the lighting on it. The room had a king sized bed, two closets, wardrobe, a small refrigerator and even television (only a few rooms at Victoria House enjoy this amenity). But what really got my attention of staying in this suite was the bathroom with a one of a kind style. I can say that I slept like a baby! It was as if I was sleeping on clouds, with a bed so comfortable and extra fluffy pillows! A five star room at a five star hotel! An enjoyable and relaxing night in paradise!”
The Victoria House offers three exquisite two-bedroom villas. Each villa is one level with traditional thatch roofs. There is a spacious living area, dining area and full kitchen. Each villa has two large master bedrooms each with mahogany poster king size canopied beds, two luxurious travertine bathrooms, romantic indoor/outdoor shower gardens in complete privacy. There is furnished private terraces overlooking the infinity edge pool with views to the gardens, beach and Caribbean Sea.
Our experience at Victoria House clearly went beyond the expectations of all the staff at Ambergris Today. The resort is uniquely crafted especially for royalty to live up to its name of Queen Victoria. I’d venture to say that once you experience Victoria House you’re bound to return.
