Mayor Paz Highlights Accomplishments with Street Plaques

Street Plaques raised around town

Have you noticed a few workers around town plastering cement blocks in the corner of streets and have asked yourself what is going on? Well don’t question yourselves anymore, the answer is this: Mayor Elsa Paz is highlighting her accomplishments with street plaques.

In an interview with Mayor Elsa Paz earlier in January, she informed Ambergris Today that she would be highlighting all of her accomplishments (paved streets, bridge, etc) by placing plaques all over town. The box of printed tiles had just reached her office and she showed them first hand to AT.

“As my Mayoral term comes to an end I have decided to place these plaques all over town,” stated Mayor Paz. “They will state what was done and under who’s administration so that everybody remembers what Elsa Paz did for San Pedro Town.”

So from now on when you stroll down the streets of San Pedro you will find a street plaque highlighting Mayor Elsa Paz’s accomplishments.

As I read this article, I was iterally shocked! How ridiculous is this?! It is disgusting to see how arrogant Elsa Paz has become. Instead of WASTING people's time and money on something so senseless, she should have used the money for something worthwhile.

ARE YOU NUTS....MUSA AND THE PUP ,GAVE US 10 YEARS  OF  ''THE RIEGN OF TERROR''...NO WAY DO I WANT MORE OF THAT.

Hmmmm, aren't we special.  The nicest thing about this article is the photo.  The employee was a gentleman, who had the decency to have his shirt tail tucked in and not show a butt crack while putting up the dumb plaques he is getting paid to do.

elsa.....appears  to  have been  self indulgent.....she started out  ...not so fat.....as  was  her bank account....but...oh  my...just look  at her/it...now......[what a hideous looking town situation she has left us with]

how is it that, there are no  thaughts of  legal  penalties?

I am now completely convinced that a screw dropped out of her head.

Those who do good for the community don't need to erect plaques for themselves all over the place. The people do that for those who deserve it.

First off all the pavement of the roads were already a project brought by the PUP... she just followed up on what was to be done.  If the Rt. Honorable George Cadle Price would have put a plaque on all his accomplishments imagine how Belize would have look!  If your are going to do something do it from your heart not from arrogance!  I am a UDP but with these things that are being done lately by Elsa Paz regret every giving her my vote!!!

Dear Mayor Elsa,

I strongly suggest you listen to a famous song from the british group "The Pet Shop Boys"

Its called "SHAMELESS"  (Lyrics) "we'll do anything, to get my 15 minutes of fame, we have no..............."

I listen to it and I remember you.

More places for vendors to show their goods...

Bicycle parking...

Cementary is full, they are burying folks along the street...

In a few administrations, the town will have concrete plaque fences..

Great tourist photo stop at plaque  "Mayor concieved on this beach" ..

Here a plaque, there a plaque, everywhere a plaque plaque...

To one commenter....the sign on the statue is not for the statue, it's regarding Pescador Drive.

To another commenter.... the article is not biased.  The comments are.

To all commenters.... whether you like the plaque's or not, it won't be long before a drunk cart driver plows them over anyway!

What a waste of money and time.  The worker's time would be better off picking up all the garbage, litter, and crap on this island.

haha this is funny.. To start with if Elsa Paz was that great, the people will decide to remember her or not.. She should have left it to the people to judge if her accomplishment should be that memorable. Elsa Paz have no rights to call the streets an accomplishment if it was not even the Town Council's "MONEY", the streets was built by a "LOAN" to start with.. so how can you call it an accomplishment if the "DEBTS" are not even paid off as yet? Its common sense that anybody who barrows a whole lumpsum of money can build all kind of wonders lol.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a PUP nor am I a UDP... but one thing i can say, if she is trying to make her party sound like they did more important things than PUP then i must comment... Ask yourselves these question: who built the police station? who built the firestation? who was the one that started the DFC project to give homes to the many in san pedro? who built the marina for the barges? who helped donated the most the san pedro highschool? who help donated a big cut for the new auditorium? to start with, under which party made all those arabs getting all kinds of buisness license without a problem? aren't most of our local buisness men affected by these arabs opening in almost every corner of the town? i can continue with a whole list of questions lol but i'll stop from here.... so in conclusion, the police station, firestation, auditorium, highschool donation, marina "so that tourist are free from big vehicles to an extent", and the DFC project that brought home to many people ARE MUCH MORE LIKE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT COMPARED TO THE BIG "CLOCK"... oh and the statue is a renovation to start with, cant be an accomplishment and take recoginition if it was there when the PUP was in.
