What's Up Today, Gerry?
How to Survive Independence Day Parade in San Pedro?
The entire country of Belize celebrates many holidays, but there is one that stands out of all and that is our Independence Day. September 21st is the day that we all unite, parade and celebrate the birthday of our beautiful country.
Every year my friends and I gather people to join us in creating our very own float. This year we teamed up with Daddy Rock Night Club and we paid tribute to the Mayas. Our costumes were creative with yellow shirts, black pants and a decorated feathered head piece (We looked like party Maya Gods). Every float is decked out with their own sound system to keep their crew pumped during the three hour parade down the streets of San Pedro Town. Many think this is a regular walk down the park, No! (But it is fun and totally worth it).

NOTE:
If you are planning on joining the parade next year, I got some pointers that would help you survive the Independence Day Parade.
1. Make sure you have your Belizean colors on your wardrobe: red, white and blue
2. Always have a Belizean flag handy
3. Drinks are a must: Belikin, Lighthouse and Carib Beer ( oh yea, Water too)
4. Sun block and a pair of comfy shoes
5. Bring your 100% Energy
Now you are ready to come to San Pedro next year and celebrate Belizean style. See you in September!
