The greasy pole has always been a crowd pleaser and attention getter in San Pedro’s beach events. We should have them as often as we have events at Central Park. Indeed it is a pretty difficult challenge but for the pride of climbing to the top, have bragging rights and yes put your fingers on the crisp $100 note, teams will be persistent and enduring to meet the challenge. This more than 25-foot greased pole requires about six levels of guys to form a pyramid and escalate to the top. Oh the fun of climbing on the stronger and sturdier guys. The skinny and most agile will do the climbing. Wow, what a thrill it would also be to have a “ladies only greasy pole.” Can’t identify anyone in this flashback but you probably know of hundreds who have been to the challenge. Enjoy
