In honor of Women’s Month, Hope Haven Belize and the San Pedro Town Council held its first “Champions of Change” awards on Saturday, March 19, 2021. The evening’s celebration were prepared to honor women on the island who are contributing positively in the community and #breakingthebias in the roles that they lead. Congratulations to all the awardees.
The Town Council and Hope Haven presented the following women as Champions Of Change:
Women in Politics – Ms. Ana Patricia “Patty” Arceo (Past Area Representative for Belize Rural South)
Women in Law Enforcement – Police Constable Kristy Novelo (Belize Police Department)
Women in Education – Vice Principal Maria “Conchita” Flota (San Pedro High School)
Women in Health Care – Dr. Luceli Molina (Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic)
Women in Business – Mrs. Ema Varela (E&L’s Butane)
Women in Conservation – Kirah Forman Castillo (Hol Chan Marine Reserve)
Women in Community Service – Susana Eiley (Community Leader)
Women in Culture Preservation – Mrs. Julia Martinez (Black & White Garifuna Cultural Center)
Women in Sports – Karol Maldonado Claros (San Pedro Female Pirates)
