The United Democratic Party (UDP) has secured the seven seats of the San Pedro Town Council for three more years as all candidates running for office were elected by the people of the island. Municipal elections in Belize were held on March 4, 2015, with the UDP securing office in all, but one (Orange Walk) of nine municipalities countrywide.
Of the 7,588 registered voters in San Pedro, 4,977 made it to the polling stations to cast their vote; this represented 66% of all registered voters. At the end of a long day, the UDP machinery proved to have the muscle to secure all seven seats available at the San Pedro Town Council with Mayor Daniel Guerrero voted back as Mayor and councilors Gabriel Nunez and Severo Guerrero elected into office for a second term.
Newcomers elected into office were Gary Greif (with the highest votes of all UDP candidates), Flora Ancona, Hector Alamilla and Ruben Gonzalez. It is interesting to note that all UDP councilor candidates received more votes that Mayoral Candidate Daniel Guerrero.
PUP Candidate Wally Nunez, who was the only opposition candidate voted in to office in 2012, was not able to secure his seat for a second term, but he received the highest votes out of the entire PUP team with Conchita Flota behind his lead breaking above the 2K votes.

At the Polls
Voting polls opened at 7a.m. with signs that the voter’s turnout would be low as waiting lines were really short throughout the majority of the morning; only 32% of the registered voters had voted by 1p.m. The majority of the residents got to the polls in the last couple hours of voting. San Pedro Police reported no major problems in the voting process as officials also reported as smooth and quiet voting process on the island.
