Hon. Manuel Obregon’s Arrival in Belize

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, Hon. Manuel Obregon, the current Minister of Culture of Costa Rica and also a world renowned pianist, composer and producer, arrived in Belize from San Jose, Costa Rica for his eagerly anticipated participation in Belize’s Music Week.

Upon his arrival to the country, Hon. Obregon, flew to San Pedro for an unofficial meeting with our Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture, The Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Ms. Dianne Haylock: President of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and Mr. Ivan Duran: President of MIAB. He was hosted for lunch at Pineapples at Ramon’s Village and given a tour of the island.

Following this meeting, Mr. Obregon returned to Belize City to conduct a Piano workshop at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts with registered participants of Music Week 2010. That same evening Hon. Obregon performed at the Bliss with music from his emblematic disc of Papaya Music: Simbiosis.
