As someone who has had the privilege of watching so many incredible young people grow up on this island, few moments feel as rewarding as this one. This past weekend, the entire island of Ambergris Caye beamed with pride as Faith Edgar, one of our very own, was crowned Miss World Belize 2025.
It’s hard to put into words what this means, not just for her, but for our whole community. I remember Faith as the bright-eyed little girl who moved to San Pedro at just two years old, quickly adapting to island life and embracing it as her own. She walked the same streets we all walk, went to the same schools many of us attended, and grew up with the salt in her hair and the sun on her face.
She mentioned that she never saw herself as a “pageant girl,” and perhaps that’s part of what makes her story so compelling. Because sometimes the most unexpected journeys are the ones that take us the farthest.
Her Journey to Miss World Belize
Faith was crowned Miss San Pedro High School in 2016, Miss San Pedro in 2022, and now, just a few years later, she has risen to the national stage (Miss World Belize 2025) taking the crown with grace, intelligence, and a heart full of purpose. She captured 66% of the public vote in an online poll before the big night, a reflection of just how deeply people across the country connect with her story and spirit.
But what truly sets Faith apart isn’t just her poise on the stage; it’s her passion off of it. With her platform “Smiles for Belize,” Faith is on a mission to give back to the country that raised her. As a future dentist and a dental health advocate, she has expressed her commitment to bring dental outreach to every corner of Belize and make oral health accessible for all. In her own words during the crowning moment, Faith said
“I’m honored to represent San Pedro and Belize. This is not just my victory, but a celebration of our culture and beauty.”
And indeed, it is. Faith embodies everything that is beautiful about Belize; not just in looks, but in heart, in grit, and in community spirit.
Now, she prepares to take her message (and our culture) to the international stage as she represents Belize in the Miss World competition. And I have no doubt she’ll do so with the same strength, humility, and authenticity that brought her to this point.
From the streets of San Pedro to the spotlight of the Miss World Belize stage, Faith’s journey is a powerful reminder that island girls can do anything. We are so proud of you, Faith. Keep shining, keep serving, and keep smiling…for Belize.
