Every time I hear a visitor talk about Belizean food, it fills me with pride, but hearing a world-traveling TikToker say it’s the best food he’s ever had? That just hits different. Recently, travel blogger Guy Williams shared on TikTok that after visiting 10 countries, including food powerhouses like Greece, Italy, and Thailand, Belize still came out on top. That’s right, our tiny but mighty country, with its humble street tacos and hearty rice and beans, beat out some of the most famous cuisines in the world.
Honestly, I’m not surprised. I’ve always said it, Belizean food just hits differently. It’s the freshness, the flavor, the love that goes into every bite. It’s why no matter how far we travel, we Belizeans always come back home dying for that perfect plate of rice and beans, stewed chicken, potato salad, and a golden slice of fried plantain. There’s simply nothing like it.
