Standing in that room, surrounded by decades of crowns, sashes, memories, and smiles, I felt something incredibly special, 70 years of Miss San Pedro all gathered under one roof. From 1955 to 2025, our island’s beauty ambassadors came together for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration hosted by the San Pedro Town Council and the Miss San Pedro Committee, and I honestly don’t think any of us left without feeling deeply moved.
To see queens from every era, women who once stood on the same stage, carried the same title, and represented the same island was nothing short of magical. I gave the very first Miss San Pedro, Leni Aguilar Alamilla (1955), a huge hug, happy to see her healthy and full of energy. I congratulated my aunt, Addy Gomez, Miss San Pedro 1961, whose crown has always made our family proud. And I celebrated alongside so many beautiful peers, former co-workers, friends, mentors, women who I’ve shared life with in different chapters, all connected now by this one shining bond.
It was emotional. It was joyful. It was San Pedro at its finest.
Miss San Pedro Throughout the Years

Mayor Wally Nuñez addressed the gathering with genuine pride, reflecting on the history represented in that room, generations of women who helped shape the island we know today. He honored our queens past and present and led us in a touching moment of silence for the late Neydy Salazar, Miss San Pedro 1963, reminding us that this legacy also carries remembrance and love.
Councilor and former queen Adaly Ayuso, now the Pageant Director, beautifully captured what this milestone truly means. She reminded us that the Miss San Pedro Pageant began humbly in 1955 as a simple popularity contest rooted in community spirit, and over the decades grew and evolved alongside San Pedro itself.
What once started small became a platform for leadership, empowerment, philanthropy, and purpose. Each era of queens brought new energy, new causes, and new definitions of beauty, not just outward beauty, but inner strength and service to others.

One of the most beautiful truths expressed that night was that our queens never truly leave the pageant. Many return as mentors, advisors, directors, community leaders, carrying forward the mission to uplift young women and inspire purpose. This is a living legacy, passed hand to hand, generation to generation.
Our Miss San Pedro queens today are far more than ambassadors of beauty. They are business owners, educators, leaders in hospitality, medical professionals, advocates, and community builders. Each woman carved her own path, there is no single story of what becoming Miss San Pedro leads to. What unites them all is pride in service and love for La Isla Bonita.
Beyond our shores, many queens have gone on to represent Belize on national and international stages: Queen of the Bay, Miss Universe, Miss World, Costa Maya, and more. And last night, we proudly celebrated one of our own, Faith Edgar, Miss San Pedro 2022, who now carries the title of Miss World Belize 2025, standing as living proof of how far this island’s dreams can travel.
San Pedro is also rich in family legacy within the pageant, mothers and daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts and nieces, a beautiful reminder that this tradition is deeply woven into our community fabric.
But above all, what truly sustains 70 years of Miss San Pedro is not crowns or gowns, it is the people. Our community has been there every step of the way, cheering from the audience, sponsoring contestants, supporting charities, encouraging young girls with dream-filled eyes. This pageant is not just an event on the calendar, it is a cherished San Pedro tradition, built with love and pride.
The gala wasn’t only about celebrating the past, it was about honoring everyone who carries this story forward. Every queen. Every supporter. Every sponsor. Every volunteer. And every young girl who once dreamed of standing on that stage and shining for her island.
Seventy years later, Miss San Pedro still shines, because our people keep it shining. From my heart, thank you to every woman who ever wore the crown and to the island community that made their journeys possible. Here’s to 70 years of beauty, purpose, sisterhood, and tradition, and to the many queens yet to come, who will continue to represent the soul of La Isla Bonita. 👑✨
