Gach Guerrero Appointed BTB Chairman

It is with great pride that we announce that San Pedro’s very own Mr. Gapsar “Gach” Guerrero is the new Chairman of the Belize Tourism Board. Gach was appointed by the Minister of Tourism and along with Mr. Guerrero a team of eight other members were elected.

The board consists of Mr. Einer Gomez and Mr. Elito Arceo from San Pedro, Mr. Santino Castillo and Stanley Longsworth from Belize City, Mr. Neal Bradley from Caye Caulker, Mrs. Marion Roberson from Cayo, Lindsey Garbutt from Placencia and Mrs. Isela Zabaneh from Dangriga.

Mr. Guerrero explained to us that the board meets once a month in Belize City and consults with the sub-committees, such as financing, marketing and cruise ship to name a few. They come up with ideas and topics for other branches to execute and also for the Minister of Tourism to present to Cabinet.

Mr. Guerrero informed us that in a month’s time San Pedro should be getting a new Belize Tourism Industry Association Branch Office so as to facilitate tourism development on the island. The BTIA recently elected a chapter for San Pedro and elected into office were: Catherine Paz as Chairperson, Javier Williams as Vice Chairperson, Laura Pacheco as Treasurer, Julie Babcock as Secretary and Terry Anderson as Director.

Ambergris Today takes this opportunity to congratulate our fellow Sanpedranos in achieving these high ranks and wish them the best in helping San Pedro and Belize being the top tourist destination that it is!
