SP Roman Catholic School has Top PSE Scores in San Pedro

Tanairi Arana places 6th countrywide in 2012 PSE – The Primary School Examination results are out and the students from San Pedro Town did an excellent job! The top scorers this year were Tanairi Aranda (95.5% – 382/400 points), Yasir Roberts (92% – 368/400 points) and Jerdon F. Anderson (91.75% – 3367/400 points), all three of San Pedro RC School.

San Pedro RC School made it to the top ten in the Belize National Primary School Examination PSE . SPRCS student, Taniari Arana placed 6th overall in the country and she also scored a perfect 100% in Mathematics and Science.

A total of 6,983 students sat the PSE and this year the scores were considerably better in English, Math and Science. The Top Achievers for this year’s PSE were Rhiki Alegria of Hummingbird Elementary in Belize and Jasmine Betncourt and Bernice Yorke of Belize, both scored a 97.25% (389/400 points). The following are the results for schools here on the island:

3 Students took the test – All Passed
1. Ian Galbraith – 88.25% (353/400)
2. Hunter Gray – 86.75% (347/400)
3. Yolannie Sutherland – 68% (272/400)

New Horizon SDA School
30 Students took the test – 26 Passed – 4 failed
1. Kirsty Arnott – 79% (317/400)
2. Carlos Casteñeda – 78% (310/400)
3. Ruben Olivarez – 73.25% (293/400)

Holy Cross Anglican School
34 Students took the test – 33 Passed
1. Kendice Armstrong – 88% (352/400)
2. Josselyn Vasquez – 87% (348/400)
3. Fenicia Williams – 85.75% (343/400)

The Island Academy
8 Students took the test – All Passed
1. Olivia Oldham – 91% (364/400)
2. Lily Hayden – 90.75% (363/400)
3. Dylan Sreshta – 89% (256/400)

Maestro Reyes School of Knowledge
8 Students took the test – All passed
1. Kiran Nuñez – 90% (360/400)
2. Kayleen Gonzalez – 88% (352/400)
3. Kaisha Reyes – 87% (348/400)
(MRSK will be holding its last graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11:00a.m. at the SP Roman Catholic Church – All past graduates are invited to attend the ceremony)

The PSE marks the end of the students’ tenure at primary school institutions across the country and is used as a base for many schools when considering acceptance and placing of students into the secondary institutions. The PSE assesses achievement of curriculum content and skills in the four (4) areas of English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science of the National Primary School Curriculum.

Out of the 6,983 students who took the examination 20 students were in the top 10 places they are as follows:

2nd Place:    Ejike Udumi – Solid Rock Christian School – 387 points – 96.75%

3rd Place:    Eric Hunter – Bernice Yorke Elementary – 385 points – 96.25%

4th Place:    Darren Alvarez – Bernice Yorke Elementary – 384 points – 96%

5th Place:    Serena Anderson – Louisiana Government School – 383 points – 95.75%
                    Amanda Morey – Grace Primary School – 383 points – 95.75%
                    Joshua Pott – Hummingbird Elementary – 383 Points – 95.75%
