Belize Folklore Documentary of Tata Duende Airs in Canada

Award winning video program producers CMJ Productions II Inc., show video content around the world by broadcasters such as the Discovery networks (US, Canada and International), and have completed two entire seasons of their documentary TV series titled “Boogeymen” that investigates legendary monsters and its history. For the final episode of the second season, CMJ productions II Inc. joined with GrisDismation, Belizean artists, animators and authors, GrissyG and Dismas, to find evidence and document the mysterious and terrifying gnome called Tata Duende, who is said to have strange powers over the jungles and animals of Belize in Central America.

“Boogeymen” investigates legendary monsters, their history, encounters and skeptics while exploring tourist attractions connected to the legends. GrissyG and Dismas, artists and authors of the book and art series “Legends of Belize, a series about mythical creatures that dwell in the jungles and waters of Belize,” joined the crew of CMJ productions II Inc. in November and December of 2014 for the filming of the 213th episode titled “Tata Duende.” In that episode GrissyG and Dismas were featured guests to help in the search for Tata Duende by interviewing prominent Belizeans; Maria Garcia (Maya Spiritual Leader), Rosita Arvigo (Alternative Physician), René Villanueva (Journalist), Araceli “Lita” Krohn (Historian), Leslie Velasquez (Teacher), Xavier Molina (Tourist Guide) and Anjali Vasquez. The “Boogeymen” TV series, episode 213, “Tata Duende” documentary aired on the Travel and Escape channel in Canada on March 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th 2016. The documentary was filmed in beautiful Belize, Central America and investigations for the Tata Duende was a three day journey filmed in Belize city and the Cayo District where stories and sightings have been reported and told by the residents, historians, and skeptics.

Mythic creatures, folklore and legend have long been a deep-rooted part of many cultures that transcends generations. GrissyG and Dismas have a passion and made it a life journey to document their Belizean myths to preserve them to share with the world. With the film crew (François Jaros-Director, Jean-Sébastien Franceur-Director of Photography and Émilie Riva-Assistant Director and Still Photography) from CMJ productions II Inc., GrissyG and Dismas explore, investigate, and document the infamous Belizean jungle gnome known as Tata Duende.

The investigative reporter from CMJ productions II Inc., Linda Lamarche, coordinated with GrissyG and Dismas, and other contacts and found stories, sightings, and possible evidence of Tata Duende. With the experienced CMJ camera crew, dedicated Belizean artists, and Belizean locals who shared their experiences and cultural stories, it leaves lots to the imagination and mythology that Tata Duende may be more than just stories.
