The new Belize telephone directory was released on Thursday, March 30, 2017, in Belize City and with a collaboration with WWF and Yello Belize the publication highlights the importance of the Belize Barrier Reef World Heritage Site with captivating images and new innovative technology.
BTL stated its proud on all the hard work, dedication and investment into making this year’s publication visually captivating and very informative. The 2017 edition features a cover shot by renowned local photographer Tony Rath.
“As you can see, every year the directory features a new natural heritage, a new natural treasure for Belize. So, it is raising awareness of what we have to offer and the fact that this natural heritage is something so unique and beautiful. So, we are sharing this with our wider Belizean population. So, it showcases what we have to offer as a country.” – Ingrid Juarez, Sr. PR Rep., B.T.L.
“Often times I feel in today’s world that we are so caught up with electronic devices, work and being in the cities that we sort of lose track of our wild places. We are so blessed here in Belize that we have a lot of wild places still intact…I try to do my little part by documenting these wild places and bringing that to those who do not go into the wild. This way they can see what they have; unless we know what we have and love what we have, there is no way we are going to protect it.“ – stated Tony Rath.
The directory highlights with images and information identifying seven unique site including the Bacalar Chico National Park and Marine Reserve, Blue Hole National Monument, Half Moon Caye National Monument, South Water Caye Marine Reserve, Glovers Reef Marine Reserve, Laughing Bird Caye National Park and the Sapodilla Caye Marine Reserve.
“WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the natural environment and build a future in which human can live in harmony with nature, we try to achieve this by investing in conservation and management related projects and capacity building on the ground to effect change. We are most pleased to partner with BTL on this year’s telephone directory. We know that this is a very good medium to share information on our marine environment and the outstanding universal value of Belize’ barrier reef system, World Heritage Site.” – Nadia Bood
“WWF is so proud to have partnered with Belize Telemedia Limited and Yello Belize in working on the 2017 Belize Telephone Directory, using the cover and “All About Belize” section to highlight our Belize WorldHeritage site.
