San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize has garnered rank as the #12 fishing town in the world and the top fishing destination in Belize for 2024. This recognition comes from a new study by FishingBooker, the world’s leading site for booking fishing trips. The study ranked 266 fishing destinations outside of the US, based on five criteria, using internal data from over 40,000 fishing trips in the past year.

San Pedro earned 27 out of a total possible score of 60 points, achieving its highest scores in the following categories:

In Belize itself the top fishing towns are:
- San Pedro – 27 points
- Belize City – 23 points
- Placencia – 23 points
- Caye Caulker – 21 points
- Hopkins – 16 points

Methodology
FishingBooker’s rankings are based on five key criteria. Using data collected over the past year from more than 40,000 fishing trips and reviews on FishingBooker, they looked at the:
- Number of available fishing charters
- Average review score
- Average recommended score
- Number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award (FishingBooker’s award for top fishing guides on the platform)
- Number of bookings
All of the above criteria were taken into account for the past year. For any location to be considered, at least ten bookings had to have been made there in the past 365 days.
