San Pedro, Belize – The Royal Kahal Resort abruptly shut its doors on Friday, just two weeks after the unexplained deaths of three American women staying at the hotel. The sudden closure left arriving guests scrambling for alternative accommodations, while those already at the resort were reportedly relocated.

An email sent to guests, some of whom were en route to Belize, stated that management had been “ordered to close temporarily” with no prior notice. “This was completely unexpected, and it came to light within the last 15 minutes,” the message read, offering only a full refund and an apology for the inconvenience. On the day of the closure, security personnel were seen stationed around the property, according to reports.

The shutdown follows the deaths of Kaoutar Naqqad, Imane Mallah, and Wafae El Arar, three American women in their mid-20s who were found dead in their hotel room on February 26 under mysterious circumstances. Their families issued a statement Friday calling the tragedy “unclear and suspicious” and urging authorities in Belize and the United States to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation. Authorities have not yet provided an official explanation for the Royal Kahal’s closure.
