The swearing-in of newly appointed ministers will take place today, Monday, March 17, at the National Assembly in the nation’s capital Belmopan. Prime Minister John Briceño has advise Her Excellency Governor General Dame Froyla Tzalam to make new appointments of Ministers of Government, pursuant to Section 40 of the Constitution. Additionally, he will recommend appointments for Ministers of State under Section 45 of the Constitution and the Attorney General under Section 40(2). Following are his appointments after this year’s General Elections.
Prime Minister John Briceño will continue to lead the government while overseeing Finance, Investment and Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation, and E-Governance. Supporting him in the Office of the Prime Minister will be Senior Minister of State Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Minister of State Rodwell Ferguson, and Minister of State for Economic Development Osmond Martinez.
Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde will maintain responsibility for the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining, Indigenous People’s Affairs.
Francis Fonseca will head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration, with Marconi Leal Jr. as Minister of State for Foreign Trade.
Jose Abelardo Mai will continue as Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, supported by Minister of State Alex Balona.
Julius Espat will serve as Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing.
Kareem Musa remains Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries.
Anthony Mahler will lead the Ministry of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Diaspora Relations, with Devin Daly as Minister of State for Youth and Sports.
Kevin Bernard will oversee the Ministry of Health & Wellness.
Orlando Habet has been appointed Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Solid Waste Management, with Ramiro Ramirez as Minister of State in that portfolio.
Michel Chebat will lead the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, supported by Minister of State Gilroy Usher.
Henry Charles Usher has been appointed Minister of Public Service & Governance and NEMO.
Oscar Mira will oversee National Defence and Border Security.
Oscar Requena will head the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, with Ramon Cervantes serving as Minister of State in that department.
Andre Perez will take charge of the Ministry of Blue Economy & Marine Conservation portfolio.
Louis Zabaneh will lead Indigenous Constitution & Religious Affairs & Transport.
Florencio Marin has been appointed Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour & Local Government.
Thea Ramirez will oversee the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support & Gender Affairs.
Anthony Sylvester has been appointed as the Attorney General.
