A jet ski explosion left one man injured and the personal watercraft completely destroyed on Saturday, June 14, 2025, near the Gas and Go Gas Station in the San Mateo Area of San Pedro Town. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when Jeffrey Molina, 26, had just refueled a jet ski and attempted to start it. Moments later the craft exploded, and according to reports, forcefully threw Molina into the lagoon. He suffered minor injuries to his left foot and was treated at the scene.
The jet ski, reportedly valued at $8,000 BZD, drifted from the explosion site and caught fire near Mangrove Drive. A couple men were caught on video attempting to extinguish the fire with buckets of water. Firefighters quickly responded and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
Jet Ski Explosion Investigated
The watercraft was owned by San Pedro Water Sport Jet Ski Company. Authorities, including police and fire officials, are currently investigating the incident. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras has been reviewed, and relevant documents have been collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
