San Pedro beamed with pride this past weekend as Herla Ortiz represented the island at the 80th Annual Queen of the Bay Pageant, held on Saturday, August 30, at the Belize City Civic Center. While the crown ultimately went to Miss Stann Creek Central, Samantha Ramirez, who was named the Queen of the Bay Designate 2025, Ortiz shone brightly in her own right, earning her place among the top five finalists of the national competition.
Herla’s grace, poise, and elegance on stage captured the admiration of many, proving once again that San Pedro’s young women bring not only beauty but also determination and charm to this cherished tradition. Though she didn’t walk away with a special award, advancing into the top five was an achievement in itself, one that proudly placed our island in the national spotlight.
The night also carried a special honor for San Pedro’s Queen of the Bay Coordinator, Phillip Ramsey, who received the Sashing Styler Coordinator Award. His creativity, dedication, and hard work behind the scenes have been invaluable in preparing San Pedro’s representatives and keeping the Queen of the Bay tradition alive and thriving on the island. Congratulations to Herla for her outstanding performance and to Phillip for his well-deserved recognition. San Pedro celebrates you both!
