My Baby Turns 15. Happy Quince Años Ambergris Today

My Baby Turns 15. Happy Quince Años Ambergris Today
I sit back at my desk, close my eyes and can just feel like it was yesterday when I published my first edition of Ambergris Today Newspaper. Wow! It has been 15 years from that day this year as Ambergris Today becomes a Quinceañera – Sweet 15 indeed!
And as I keep my eyes closed, I recollect on all the wonderful memories that include happy times, triumphs, adventures, excitement, celebrations, knowledge, failure, tragedy, sadness and on top of it all, so much wonderful experience. My experiences working on building my personal business and public service to the community of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye and my country Belize has brought tremendous happiness in my life. ‘Love your job and you will not have to work a day in your life’; this explains my passion towards my career.
You see, my job delivers a product to the masses. I deliver information that people can use to learn, to make decisions with and to enjoy. I find great satisfaction when I know that people receive this information and I am assisting them in one way or another. It’s a responsibility that I take very seriously.
I used to go out and deliver newspapers every Thursdays and seeing how people looked forward in receiving their weekly Ambergris Today Newspaper brought me joy and satisfaction. Three years ago I made the decision to stop printing newspapers and deliver information solely online. Times have changed and the word demands information faster and more efficiently. Through our daily posts online Ambergris Today can meet those demands, follow on future trends and reach a maximum capacity audience that cannot be achieved anymore through print. It was a big and bold step, but a decision that proved to be fruitful and very successful.
Ambergris Today is one of the first business in Belize to fully integrate itself online and move forward with information technology that the entire world now depends upon. With over 30,000 unique visitors, over 600,000 page views and an average of 5 million hits per month, my website (your website) has achieved tremendous steps forward in putting forth information about Belize to the world.
Yet I am not fully satisfied; I quench to do more for my community, my country and myself. There’s so much more to do, so much to write about, experience and inform people. Challenges there have been many, but for the most part it has been a breeze sailing through happy seas for my staff and me. My reward comes from knowing that I have done my best in delivering the upmost service with integrity and pride.
I could not have done this alone. The support of my family and hard work and dedication from a great staff has propelled Ambergris Today forward with great momentum. So when you see Perlita, Sofia and Gerry out on the streets doing their job, please stop them and congratulate them for a tremendous job well done.
I, Dorian Nunez, your humble servant, promise to continue working hard in delivering the best product, the most factual and sincere information, helping my community in any way possible and most of all, spreading the word on what a beautiful country we live in. That can only bring more benefit to each and every one of my beloved Belizeans.
So here is to 15 years more and beyond. Today I celebrate 15 years of achievement, prosperity and service to my country. Only better things are to come from Ambergris Today and I thank each and every one of you for your continued readership loyalty.
