New Regulations Restrict House Moves to Nighttime Hours Only

The Department of Transport (DoT) has announced new regulations restricting the movement of houses and oversized structures on public roadways to nighttime hours only, in a move aimed at improving road safety and easing traffic congestion nationwide.

Effective immediately, the transport of houses and large structures will only be permitted between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., seven days a week. The DoT says the new directive comes in response to a growing number of complaints from motorists and the general public regarding daytime house moves, which have led to traffic jams, road obstructions, and even property damage.

House Moves Create Serious Safety Hazards

“These oversized transports create serious safety hazards and major delays, particularly during peak traffic hours,” the Department stated in a release. “Limiting movements to nighttime hours will significantly reduce risks to drivers and improve the overall flow of traffic.”

The DoT emphasized that any unauthorized house moves during restricted hours will result in strict enforcement, including possible vehicle impoundments, fines, and permit suspensions.

Officials are urging all transport operators and logistics companies to adhere to the new regulations and to apply for the necessary permits through the Department of Transport headquarters or district offices. The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and order on the country’s roadways, and thanked the public for its continued cooperation.
