This past weekend, island residents joined the San Pedro Lions Club in celebrating an incredible milestone, the club’s 50 years of service to our island community. What began as a humble idea back in 1975 has grown into one of San Pedro’s strongest and most respected organizations, with a half-century of dedication, compassion, and leadership woven into its history.
The gala event was a beautiful tribute to those who have carried the torch over the years, from charter members who founded the club on October 25, 1975, to past presidents, board members, and active Lions who continue to serve today. The recognition of these remarkable individuals was deeply moving; their vision, determination, and heart have shaped not only the club but also the very spirit of our island.
Special acknowledgment was also given to the four Lion Cubs, our next generation of service-minded youth who are learning the true meaning of giving back. Seeing them honored reminded me that the Lions’ legacy will continue for many years to come, a legacy built on the motto: “We Serve.”

To everyone who has ever worn the Lions pin, led a project, sold BBQ plates for fundraising, or simply lent a helping hand, thank you. You’ve been part of something extraordinary. The San Pedro Lions Club has stood strong for five decades, through times of growth, challenges, and change, always guided by the same core purpose: to serve others with kindness and unity.
As we raise a glass to this golden anniversary, I can’t help but feel immense pride in what the club represents – community, service, and love for San Pedro. Here’s to another 50 years of leadership, generosity, and roaring Lion spirit! 🦁💛
