Learning to scuba dive is a fulfilling, life-changing, and educational experience. This summer the San Pedro Tourist Guide Association (SPTGA) in collaboration with the Hol Chan Marine Reserve are once again giving local kids the opportunity to explore the underwater world.
The annual Scuba Diving Summer Program’s purpose is to educate the community’s younger generation on the importance of Belize’s reef eco-system and so they can also assist Hol Chan Marine Reserve research and programs in to futures.
The ages accepted for the summer program are 10 years and older and participants targeted are primary school level children.
The selection is as follow:
* All are selected by their respectable administration.
* Four kids from SPRC, 4 from ACES, 4 New Horizon, 4 Isla Bonita, 4 Hol Cross, 4 Island Academy
* Two Leo’s Club, 2 Hol Chan, 2 The Blackador Group
* Four public servants (2 police and 2 poly clinic)
Particular requirements: Medically clear for diving and good academic.
The association has been offering this program annually and will continue. The program is in collaboration with San Pedro Tour Guide Association, San Pedro Tour Operators Association, Hol Chan Marine Reserve and new partner The Blackadore Group.
