San Pedro Lions Club – A Club That Truly Roars

If the San Pedro Lions Club would not exist, things would be quite different in San Pedro today. The Club was chartered in 1975 and has been roaring with power and dignity ever since. This flashback represents some of the high officials during the very first Lions Convention in San Pedro, and posing in front of the Lions Clinic.

It happened in 1978 and it coincided with the inauguration of the first Lions Community Clinic as it was named. This clinic was built entirely by the Lions who provided the finances, manpower and actual labor for two years and inaugurated under the presidency of Lion Betito Marin.

Lions brought the first full time doctor to San Pedro and introduced uninterrupted medical services for the first time. Added to their long list of projects, The San Pedro Lions Club is responsible for the Mosquito Coast Park, The Lions Den, Robert Raszkowski Hall upstairs of the Lions Den, completion of San Pedro High School new building, and of course the construction of the Poly Clinic, now named after Lion Otto Rodriguez, who was the very first resident doctor to San Pedro under the umbrella of the Lions.

Lions is a hard working service club and donates thousands of dollars annually to the needy and sick. Imagine San Pedro without the Lions. We would be without a Poly clinic for sure.
