The RESTORE Belize Program with the office of the Prime Minister collaborated with government agencies and private donors to assist in the national effort to provide disaster relief to affected persons in the wake of Hurricane Richard.
Mike and Melita Feisnstein of the Fort Street Tourism Village donated a container of clothes to RESTORE Belize for onward distribution to affected families. These clothes were valued at $20,000Bze and were distributed to various community-based organizations and social agencies in the Port Loyola, Collet and Yarborough areas to share out to families in the worst affected areas.
The parents of Hummingbird Elementary School donated clothing and shoes, through RESTORE Belize, and there were distributed to families who had lost many of their personal items in the storm.
The Yarborough Community Policing Center provided hot meals to families in the Yarborough area through the Hurricane Richard Feeding Program. RESTORE Belize was pleased to be a contributor to this vital feeding program which offered critical relief to hundreds in the days immediately following the hurricane.
RESTORE Belize teamed up with Travellers Ltd. To distribute 100 boxes of basic food items, which the company was donating to 100 families in the affected areas of Belize City.
The Government of Mexico donated 1472 foam mats to the Government of Belize. RESTORE Belize joined forces with the Ministry of Human Development and Social Transformation and the Belize City Council to distribute these foam mats to those families who had suffered partial or complete loss and destruction of their basic household assets.
