Belize Mission Project Helping out San Pedro

The Belize Mission Project (BMP) has been helping brighten smiles in the community of San Pedro for the past 18 years. They have made trips to Belize once a year working, not only in San Pedro but in other parts of the country as well. This year BMP will be making two visits; the first which ended on Friday, October 21, and the second which is scheduled for November 4 – 12.

Improving smiles for island residents in San Pedro is the number one priority for the Belize Mission Team; this year is a special year.  Not only are they doing to visits, but on their first trip they made a special donation to the community of San Mateo. The People’s United Party “Blue Team 2012” (Mayoral candidate and councilor candidates) lobbied for medical assistance for the people of San Mateo and the Belize Mission Project was able to collect over the counter medications, along with other first aid items for the people of San Mateo.

According to Mrs. Conchita Flota, Mayoral Candidate of the People’s United Party, the residents of San Mateo are in need of medical assistance. “Some, if not all, of the residents of San Mateo do not have the resources to go the clinic or medication,” stated Mrs. Flota. “We have learned that these people at times have small injuries or late night emergencies and since they cannot afford to go to a doctor and much less buy medication they go to Mrs. Glenda Rancharan who has become somewhat like the areas nurse for assistance.”

The Blue Team, along members of the Belize Mission Project, presented to Mrs. Glenda Rancharan two bags of first-aid items and many over the counter medications for the residents of San Mateo. Mrs. Rancharan will take hold of the medications and items that will be available for all residents of San Mateo.
