Residents Cry for Street Repairs

Repairs on a section of Pescador Drive after a water main breakage that sent the utility company digging up a large trench took some time to start, but the timing of the repairs couldn’t have been worst. Today makes day seven of work and repairs to the section of the cobblestone street caused traffic to be detoured to the back street parallel to it. With all the rainy that we have been experiencing lately, the detour street became a muddy, pothole ridden mess.

Residents were crying “why now” as the detour is the only access to the northern part of town and commute is a slow, bumpy and frustrating ride. But the San Pedro Town Council quickly got to work in remedying the situation and indicated to Ambergris Today that as much as 15 loads of sand and fill have been added to the street; even a quick drainage solution was put in place to prevent the added sand to turn to mud once again.

Repairs seem to be going slow on the cobble stone street and the detour street has only been patched up half way; but it’s hard to blame mother nature. The San Pedro Town Council is assuring residents that they are working hard to alleviate the situation, weather and resources permitting.
