Town Council Hires Second Town Foreman

San Pedro has grown from being a quaint fishing village into the country’s number one tourist destination. With its vast development the island needs more attention and personnel to tend to the growing needs of the island. With this in mind, the San Pedro Town Council has hired another foreman to share the work with the present foreman. Mr. Freddie Gonzalez Jr., now joins Mr. Samuel Gonzalez in taking care of our island’s needs.

Freddie Gonzalez is in charge of the northern area of the island beginning from Caribeña Street (Caribeña Lagoon Fuel Station) and all of the northern area of Ambergris Caye. Freddie was on hand on Saturday, June 16, 2012, on Pescador Drive to clear up the street section that was under repairs for about two weeks and opened it to traffic.

Residents across the Boca del Rio Bridge were also asking for assistance as the road up north got a beating with all the rain. Huge pot holes and puddles stretched across some sections of the road and foreman Freddie was also on site this past weekend to see that the necessary repairs were carried out to ensure a smooth ride on the northern part of the island. Directly after the bridge the road has been leveled out with hard core and sand with the street grader from Reef Village all the way to Grand Caribe.

The new foreman, along with his working crew, is hard at work in keeping up with the needs of the northern part of the island. Ambergris Today has noticed that Freddie is a hands on worker and not afraid to get down and dirty with his fellow employees.

“I am not a one man team”, says Freddie to Ambergris Today. “I have to give credit to my fellow workers who are there giving their all. I love my town and I am here to work as hard as I can to make repairs and improvements on the living conditions for the benefit of all residents.”

Councilor Gaby Nuñez is also hard at work along with Freddie and both are out working as early as 3:00a.m. every day.

Another project that is also taking place simultaneously with the street repairs on the north side of the island is the placement of proper drainage in the San Juan Area. Plastic culverts are being installed to allow proper water flow to the lagoon so as to avoid huge water puddles along the streets.

On behalf of the community of San Pedro, Ambergris Today takes this opportunity to warmly welcome the new foreman and wish him and his work crew the best in all the hard work they are doing. Kudos!
