Summer vacation is just around the corner and children are always excited to be out of school and be able to stay home and relax, watch some television, hang out with friends or go out and have some fun in the sun. Sports is always a big deal here on the island; children love being in marathons and involving themselves in all sorts of activities whether it be football, softball or basketball.
Children and adults who are sports fanatics and love being out shooting some hoops will be glad to know that on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, Councilor Gaby Nuñez along with Foreman Freddie Gonzalez Jr. were at the Boca del Rio Park installing new basketball rims which were kindly donated by Ramon’s Village Resort that has adopted the park and in charge of its maintenance.
“This is a very nice gesture on behalf of Ramon’s Village,” stated Mr. Nuñez. “Sports fans can now enjoy basketball in the Boca del Rio Park. All we ask is for them is to play responsibly and take care of the equipment so that everybody can enjoy the park.”
Shortly after the basketball rims were installed children from the neighborhood wasted no time in shooting some hoops and were enjoying a friendly game of basketball. Kudos to Ramon’s Village Resort for the kind donation.
