Belize Visa-Free Treatment For Taiwanese Goes Into Effect

Taipei, Jan. 8 (CNA) Visa-free treatment granted by Belize has gone into effect for Taiwanese citizens, who can now visit the Central American country for stays of up to 90 days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry said it had received notification of the move from its Belize counterpart and that the measure was also confirmed by the International Air Transport Association.

From now on, holders of valid Taiwan passports can enter the nation for up to 90 days without a visa for tourism or business, the ministry said, adding that Taiwanese visitors can apply for an extension of stay once the 90 days are up.

Belize, one of Taiwan’s 23 diplomatic allies, is the 131st country or area to have accorded visa-waiver privileges to Taiwanese citizens.
