Belize Tourism Arrivals are Up for First Part of 2014

Belize City, Belize – May 8, 2014 – Tourist arrivals for the first quarter of 2014 are up! Compared to last year, there were increases in all three months for overnight, cruise and airport arrivals.

Airport arrivals for January-March, 2014, have seen an overall increase of 10.25%. January had the largest increase of 13.01%, which is a total of 22,562 tourist arrivals. 77,464 tourists arrived via the international airport for the first three months of 2014.

Tourism Arrivals for Belize Are Up

Overnight arrivals have increased by 9.67%, compared to 2013. February saw the highest increase with 11.61%, which was a total of 32,105 overnight arrivals. Overnight arrivals in the first quarter of 2014 have all exceeded 30,000 visitors (January – 31,164; February – 32,105; March – 38,712). The total overnight arrivals for January to March, 2014, was 101,982.

Tourism Arrivals for Belize Are Up

Cruise passenger arrivals had a remarkable 22.03% increase in the first quarter of 2014, when compared to 2013. March saw the highest increase in cruise passenger arrivals with a 39.81% increase, totaling 115,227 passenger arrivals. For the first quarter of 2014, there has been a total of 322,218 cruise passenger arrivals.

Tourism Arrivals for Belize Are Up

The largest market for travelers to Belize continues to be the U.S, which has increased by 11%; the second largest is Canada, with an increase of 6.7%; the third largest is the UK, which has surpassed Belizeans living abroad and increased by 28.5%.
