On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, members of the San Pedro Red Cross delivered a kind donation of baby items to a single mother and her baby at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic. A baby is always a blessing and this is exactly what Baby Enriquez is – a true blessing to her mom!
Dinora Enriquez was an expecting single mother-to-be when her husband left her and is currently jobless and living with a friend. She was a high risk patient at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic II so the staff and doctors managed to get donations for her to travel to the city for medical attention.
The San Pedro Red Cross learnt about Dinora’s case and, wanting to help the mother and child, they put out a call for help and it was when the group Mother’s of Ambergris Caye came forth with a donation. A recent mother of the group quickly responded to the call of assistance and donated several baby items including, baby clothes, diapers, baby wipes, baby soap, lotion and much more. Banana Beach Resort volunteered to handle the donation collection and is still currently doing so if anyone wants to help the new mom with much needed supplies; items can be dropped off at the resort’s front desk.
Although the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic II doesn’t normally entertain child birth, in extreme cases that the patient cannot be flown out or other emergencies, the patient is admitted to the clinic and the baby is delivered. This was the case with Dinora Enriquez; she delivered a healthy baby girl who weighed six pounds, nine ounces and was born on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 12:30 a.m. Assisting Dinora in the delivery was Dr. Nyana Harrison, Dr. Fatima Oliva and Nurse Beverly Tucker.
Ambergris Today would like to congratulate Ms. Enriquez on the delivery of her beautiful daughter and a huge thanks and kudos to the San Pedro Red Cross and Moms of Ambergris Caye group for their kind assistance.
