Three-Peat for UDP Government and Manuel Heredia Jr.

For the third consecutive time the incumbent Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. has once again secured his seat in government by taking Belize Rural South and winning for The United Democratic Party.

Belize General Elections 2015 took place on Wednesday, November 4, with the UPD winning the majority of seats in the House of Representatives and making Belize red again. Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow also won a record third term in the snap general elections.

In Belize Rural South, which includes ambergris Caye, Caye caulker and St. George’s Caye, a total of 6,074 votes were cast out of 8,749 registered voters; this accounts for 69% turnout.

“I will continue to work hard and diligently with my people from San Pedro and Caye Caulker; I love them a lot,” commented Manuel Heredia Jr. “They in turn have shown today that they continue to love me and that no mater what so long that I am here they will give me that support.”

With that said Manuel Heredia assured that Prime Minister Dean Barrow will keep him under the Ministry of Tourism portfolio so that he can continue doing his job that portfolio. He allotted his win to all the hard work he and government have done for his constituency, particularly in the tourism industry, which the islands depend on the most. Heredia also stated that the UDP has worked in developing infrastructure, education and health for Belize Rural South.
