The top five resort hotels in Central America include Matachica Resort & Spa in Belize, where it says T +L readers could see the barrier reef from their thatched-roof casitas or the private hot tub outside their villas. Mata Chica Resort tied at the #3 spot while the Turtle Inn, Placencia made it to the #5 spot.

Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker still reign supreme as top island destination in the world. Ambergris Caye scored the #4 spot on the Top 5 Best Islands in Mexico, Central America & South America, while its neighboring island of Caye Caulker paced at #5.
