Prime Minister’s Return Delayed Due to Possible Viral Gastroenteritis

The Office of the Prime Minister issued a press release yesterday afternoon informing that the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow could not return to Belize yesterday as originally planned.

The Prime Minister was experiencing symptoms seemingly consistent with viral gastroenteritis prior to his departure and had to be admitted to the Belize Medical Associates overnight last Thursday.  The symptoms have persisted during his travel and he saw a doctor and was advised to run tests, some of which could not have been diagnosed in Belize.  For this reason, Prime Minister Barrow’s return is delayed until Sunday, December 11, 2016.

During his absence, Hon. Patrick Faber will continue to act as Prime Minister, and the signing of the UNCAC and the meeting of the House of Representatives will proceed.
