First Ever – No-Plastic, No-Styrofoam Kids Summer Camp in Belize

Hon. Dr. Omar Figueroa, Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment and Sustainable Development, joined villagers from Bullet Tree Falls in the Cayo District for the launch of the first ‘No-Plastic No-Styrofoam Kids Summer Camp’.

50 children from the community will participate in the camp which will be hosted from the July 9th to 29th. At the end of each week, the children will be taken on field trips to different protected areas in Belize.

The ‘No-Plastic, No-Styrofoam Kids Summer Camp’ is designed to be a highly interactive, hands-on, community-based education and awareness program. It will include environmentally-focused activities in areas of creative arts, theatre, music, artistic recycling, and photography. The activities will be facilitated by specialists from Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, and Russia.

The camp was officially launched on Monday, July 9th.
