On Friday night, October 5, 2018, San Pedro High School presented the very first Mr. and Miss San Pedro High Beauty Pageant. While the Miss San Pedro High Pageant goes back to 1974 when Celi Jeanne Grief received the popularity title, this year saw the first Mr. San Pedro High Pageant with two male participants.
In the opening segment the five contestants presented themselves representing five subdivision communities of San Pedro. For the talent segment the contestants depicted five different folkloric characters of Belize including the Duende, Llorona, and X’Tabai.
By the second segment it was clearly established who the crowd favorite was, but the five imported judges were paying close attention since it was a tight competition. Very interesting this year was that in their professional outfit presentations, the delegates depicted five philanthropists of San Pedro, namely Celi McCorkle, Elvia Staines, Otto Rodriguez, Barry Bowen, and Elsa Paz.
In the end after the question and answer segment, it was Kurt Cus chosen by the judges and audience as the first Mr. San Pedro High and Miss Aaliyah Pilgrim was selected as Miss San Pedro High.
Other participants in the pageant were Mr. Everal Dixion, Miss Kimberly Tzul and Miss Babee Lopez. Congratulations to the winners of this prestigious pageant which serves to propel the young ladies towards other pageants like Miss San Pedro. Congratulations to San Pedro High, especially to Teacher Phillip Ramsey, for keeping the tradition alive.
