Seasonal Flu Vaccine Available at Public Health Clinics Countrywide

The Ministry of Health informs the public that the seasonal flu vaccine is now available for the following at-risk groups: children 6–23 months, pregnant women, healthcare providers, persons over 65 years, and persons with chronic heart or lung diseases, diabetes and other chronic conditions.

The seasonal influenza vaccine helps to prevent the flu or reduce the severity of the illness. Mild side effects of the flu vaccine may include a slight fever, muscle pain for a few days and soreness around the injection site.

The vaccine is available at all public health centers and is free of cost throughout the country. Persons in the aforementioned groups are advised to visit their nearest health center to be vaccinated.

Persons who were vaccinated last year should know that further protection during this flu season would entail being vaccinated again this year.
