Islanders Organize Belize Children's Assistance Organization During Pandemic

Belize Children’s Assistance Organization was created by Ms Yamilet Tzib to assist jobless parents with basic grocery items. She then pushed forward to assist single parents with baby products such as diapers, formula and wipes, to name a few. With the help of Mrs. Debbie Howell Reed and Mrs. Sheila Midgett Mark and their GoFundme pages the Organization has been assisting the needy on San Pedro and on the mainland with weekly grocery packages since April 10, 2020.

Relying on donations, the crew organized a live fundraiser #musicforacause led by Ruan DjPatron Nunez to raise funds every Thursday night on Facebook towards the weekly grocery distribution. Maruba Beach Klub also packed and donated grocery packages for 20 families and Mrs. Alexandra Nicholson happily accompanied Yamilett to distribute those packages.

On these distributions Yamilett learned that many students will not be able to go back to school so they started a back-to-school program. A GoFundMe page was created to get donations to pay registration and tuition for these children. Serena Musil stepped in and rallied some sponsors who’ve committed to send a child to school putting the back-to-school program in motion.

“All this is made possible by those who have donated and continue to donate to this organization. We hope to continue this initiative and would like to ask those who would like to donate to please email us or place your donation on our GoFundMe page gf.me/u/x3rgwt
