Alfonso and Elida Castillo of San Pedro Town celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary on November 8, 2010. The couple married in 1980 in Belize City, Belize.
Alfonso grew up in Pomona Valley, Stann Creek and Elida enjoyed her childhood years at Isabella Bank, Belize. Elida and Alfonso met after earning their Associate’s degrees from Belize Technical College where it is said that she caught his eyes at her graduation ceremony! As a banker for 22 years Alfonso worked at the Royal Bank of Canada before it became the Belize Bank. Elida has worked as an executive secretary for Arnold’s Construction Supplies, program assistant for Peace Corps Belize, manager of International Rescue Committee, and manager of Paradise Resort Hotel.
Both Elida and Alfonso enjoyed living in Punta Gorda Town for several years before relocating to San Pedro with their three children. The couple’s dream of owning their own hardware company became a wonderful reality on February 19, 2000 when the two opened the island’s very own Castillo’s Hardware Company Limited.
The Castillos children are Lilliana Bell; Candice Castillo and Krystle Hurley. They also have one granddaughter, Gianna Bell. They love sharing their lives with their children, granddaughter, family, and friends.
The couple celebrated their anniversary with a surprise family reunion in Gainesville, FL, last month. We wish them many more years of a happy and blessed marriage.
