you remember Papa Blake’s House and think it was the most awesome building in San Pedro at the time.
…..And you are a modern day Sanpedrano if
you take a stroll down the beach and admire buildings like The Phoenix, Grand Carib and Coco Beach
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
you remember crossing the Boca del Rio with water up to your waist.
…..And you know you are a present day Sanpedrano if
you now cross the Boca del Rio Bridge by golf cart and you are anxiously awaiting for permission to be granted for all to cross by car.
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
your mom used to make flour tortillas, fried jacks or Johnny cakes every evening and five pounds of sweet bread every Saturday afternoon.
…..And you know you are a modern Sanpedrano if
you now buy your pack of special white bread from La Popular or some sweat bread from Annie’s Pastries on the tricycle down the street.
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
you remember getting a calendar with a picture of some saint from your local grocery store.
…..And you know you are a modern Sanpedrano if
you are looking forward to getting the large handy calendars with note pads from the bank or viewing the Belikin Calendar with the lovely Belizean models.
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
you remember having to wait for someone to kill a pig in order to get your supply of pork meat.
…..And you know you are a present day Sanpedrano if
you simply go over to Chico’s or Lino’s Meat shops to get your supply or pork, beef and even mutton.
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
you remember that you only had two choices of cheese- Kraft cheese and Dutch Cheese which came in a ball.
…..And you know you are a modern Sanpedrano if
you are purchasing mozzarella cheese, parmesan and cheddar cheese or you can rush to Wine de Vine for over twenty kinds of delicious cheeses.
You know you are an old timer Sanpedrano if
you used to feed your dog with table scraps and he used to eat right next to you.
…..And you are a modern Sanpedrano if
you are feeding your dog with Puppy Chow and special dog feed, and he eats in a special bowl and his special place.
Hey folks, it’s very easy to make up your mind whether you are a modern or old timer in San Pedro, right? There is such a big difference of life in San Pedro 25 years ago.
