The Department of Youth Services hosted its annual Belize Youth Awards Gala on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Belize City Civic Center. The Youth Awards night celebrates amazing and talented young people who have shown leadership, innovation, and community service skills while empowering their peers and motivating their communities. Lovely Sanpedrana Nayobie Rivero was awarded with the Minister’s Award for Leadership and Advocacy.
The Belize Youth Award (BYA) is a prestigious National Honor bestowed on outstanding young Belizeans from ages 15 to 29 who demonstrate high standards of achievement and commitment within their various communities across the country of Belize. Recognizing the outstanding achievements of our young people is one of the strategic objectives of the Department of Youth Services.
Nayobie is a caring, philanthropic and community-minded individual. Through her non-profit organization “Nayobie’s Hope for Children” that she has been working for three years now, she plans to work on programs to empower her peers and push others in the same path of selflessness that she proudly walks through. She has given up some of her time to raise funds for less fortunate children/families, looked after sick babies, participated in island clean up campaigns, donated to the elderly. For this and many other reasons Nayobie was named Ambergris Today’s Person of the Year 2018 and is well deserved of such prestigious recognition by Belize’s Youth Department. Congratulations to Nayobie on her winning!
