Chukka Belize Delivers Backpacks to Schools in Rural Belize

On June 19 & 21, 2018, Chukka Belize delivered 75 backpacks with basic school supplies to three primary schools in rural Belize and the Belize City are a through its CHUKKA CARES initiative. The initiative is now in its 5th year and is supported by tour guides, management and staff of Chukka Belize.

This year, the three schools selected were Pilgrim Fellowship School located in Hattieville, Frank’s Eddy Government School in Frank’s Eddy Village and Calvary Temple Primary School in Belize City. These three schools provide education for our community’s children from Infant 1 to STD 6 with enrolment of between 85 and 120 students from various ethnic backgrounds and various areas of Belize District and Belize City; all from low income households. After a very warm welcome to Chukka representatives, twenty five students from each school received backpacks and school supplies in anticipation of the new school year.

“We enjoy the opportunity to give back to our communities. There are so many in need and we will continue to do what we can to affect the change we want to see in our young ambassadors; and this is where it starts. Our guides and staff are motivated to give how they can with a mission to rightly culture the children in our communities that better can come from them to influence a better tomorrow for them” commented Mrs.  Molina. In addition to the backpacks and supplies, our Care Team also provided sweet treats of deliciously baked cupcakes and juices for each backpack recipient. Teachers, Principals and students extended their gratitude for the support.

The Care Team was led by Human Resources Manager, Mrs.  Martha Molina  and  was  accompanied  by Meisha  Baptist  (HR  Assistant),  Reuel  Rivers  (Pier/Bus  Tours  Manager),  Brenda  Castillo  (Chief  Systems Operator) and Melecia McDougall – Banks (Supervisor, Resort Sales & Marketing). The Chukka Care program has been ongoing for several years and each year the recommendation of what to do is made based on suggestions  from  the  tour  guides  and  staff coupled  with  donations  from  staff,  tour  guides  and  the company.
