Amber Rivero is Miss Earth Belize 2013

“A girl with a mind; a woman with attitude; and, a lady with class.” – Belize City, Belize – Miss Amber Reneé Rivero is the new reigning Miss Earth Belize 2013.  As Miss Earth Amber is the official Environmental Ambassador of Belize who will be representing her country at Miss Earth International Pageant to be held in Manila, Philippines, in November, 2013.

Belize International Pageants Limited crowned the 21 year old student of the University of Belize at ceremonies held on August 24th, 2013, At the Royal Orchid Hotel in Belize City.  The previous queen, Miss Jessel Lauriano, gave her final farewell address, and passed on the torch to the newly crowned queen, Ms. Rivero who said she is proud to be able to showcase Belize’s natural wonders and make her country take its rightful place on the international scene.

In her acceptance speech Amber promised “to promote Belize positively in any and every opportunity”. At the very least, her hopes are “to change the way people in Belize think about the natural beauty in their own backyard” because she trusts that “If you change your mind, you can change your life”. Furthermore, in closing she reaffirms the conviction of her goal as she says “This not the symbol of beauty or superficial claims but instead a declaration of our shared hopes for the future for a change in Belize”.

At the coronation ceremony, Amber showcased the talent that she will be offering at the International Pageant. She performed an exemplary rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You” on the violin, accompanied by steel pans being played by Benoit Coye and Feliece Zelaya.
