The San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival has set the dates for their Maya 2012 themed celebrations for August 2 to the 5, 2012. With this, preparations have started for yet another year of cultural and high-energy presentations from across the Mundo Maya countries along the Americas.
No word yet on which international artist will highlight the festival on Saturday, August 4, but all the festivities will be centered around the very important year for the Maya – 2012. The festival’s four-day format remains with Opening Night being on Thursday, August 2, that will be highlighted with high-octane performances from the very best of the Mundo Maya countries. Fiday, August 3, welcomes the ever popular Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant (Miss Costa Maya). All seven Central American countries and Mexico have confirmed their participation once again.
Saturday, August 4, will be International Night and this year the festival committee is looking to book two artists to cater for both the younger and older audiences; so everybody can expect something very spectacular.
Once again, the festivities move to Central Park on the last day of the festival, August 5, with an all-day Beach Party with live music, DJ competitions, games and a repeat of the Triathlon that was very popular last year. There will no longer be scheduled performances during the evening, but the mechanical rides and food stalls will be accessible to the public at night. The FUN moves to Central Park on Closing Day for the Costa Maya Festival.
The ball is rolling and the Costa Maya Festival Committee has started to work in looking for the best performers from the region and internationally to grace the stage of the biggest and most popular festival in Belize.
