Belmopan, 5th October, 2011. The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture, has announced the completion of the project “Modernization of the Voice Communication System (VCS 3020X) for Air Traffic Services in the Department of Civil Aviation”.
The VCS 3020X is a combined voice and data switch which provides integrated voice communications for radio, telephone and intercom in one unique system with unlimited conference capabilities. The VCS 3020X provides operator access to all communication channels, regardless of the system load at any time.
The cost of the project was funded by the Corporación Centroamericana de Servicios de Navegacion Aerea (COCESNA), of which Belize is a Member State. The cost of the project was $331,774.71 USD and the system was installed by Morcom International Inc./FREQUENTIS. These companies are based in the United States of America and Austria.
This a another demonstration of the Government of Belize and the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of its operations and to provide enhanced safety for air transportation.
