Graduation season is officially underway on Ambergris Caye, and leading the way this year is The Island Academy, which hosted its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 30, 2025. This year’s event was especially meaningful, marking the school’s largest graduating class to date with thirteen proud students walking the stage.
The intimate yet celebratory ceremony honored each graduate with high-mark awards and diplomas, recognizing their hard work, academic achievements, and the special moments they’ve shared together throughout their time at the school. Family, friends, and faculty gathered under sunny skies and joyful spirits to send off the Class of 2025 with heartfelt applause.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Sir Barry Bowen Cup, the school’s most prestigious award. This year, the honor was bestowed upon Jad Obeid (pictured in headline pic), recognized for his exceptional performance, leadership, and embodiment of The Island Academy’s values.
