SPHS Celebrates Drug Awarness Week
"Actions Today - A Healthier Tomorrow" - this was the theme under which the San Pedro High School celebrated Drug Awareness Week from Monday, April 23 to Friday, April 27, 2018. The week consisted of various in class activities including motivational speakers talking to students. The week full of activities came to an end with students gathering at the Angel Nunez Auditorium where each class made presentations in relation to drug use/drug awareness. Many beautiful and meaningful poems were recited as well as interesting and well practiced skits.
SP House of Culture Holds Cultural Fashion Show
The San Pedro House of Culture held its first annual Festival of Cultures on Sunday, April 22, 2018 on the beachside by Palapa Bar. There was plenty to eat and drink and live music provided by the popular Caribbean Kings. Highlight of the event was the Cultural Fashion Show put together by the House of Culture and Foreva Fancy Boutique. Here are some pictures of the event for your enjoyment.
Ambergris Caye Masonic Lodge Hosts Successful Easter Egg Hunt
The Ambergris Caye Masonic Lodge held its first ever Easter Egg Hunt on Monday, April 2, 2018. It was a fun event where children and parents gathered at the entrance of the San Pedro High School for the gate to be opened at 12 noon sharp! As the gate opened the children ran to get their eggs filled with goodies. There were snacks on sale and even a bicycle raffle won by Lael Martinez. The ACML would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible and a very special thanks to all those who attended.
SJC & SCA Classes of ’78 Celebrate 40 Year Reunion
After several months of planning, the combined classes of Saint John’s College and Saint Catherine Academy alumni ’78 held its 40th reunion at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Over 100 alumni, friends and teachers came from all over the United States and Belize to fill the beautifully decorated Caracol Room and enjoy an evening of entertainment and fellowship.
Young Minds Expand at Isla Bonita Science Fair
We had the opportunity to see all the excited faces of students and visitors of Isla Bonita Elementary School's third annual Science Fair that was held last week, March 16, 2018. Held under the theme "Discovering a New World through the Window of Science", the different classes from all levels displayed their projects from a range of topics under the elementary school's science curriculum.
Fun Activities for Child Stimulation Month
The month of March is filled with fun activities for children as they are celebrated the entire month as it is Child Stimulation Month. PreSchools have a busy month planned out for students, parents and family to participate it. Aerobics, Grandparents day, Daddy Days, Movie Days, Cultural Day and even Civic Pride Day. San Pedro UDP Victory Rally
The United Democratic Party of San Pedro Town welcomed Hon. Dean Oliver Barrow to La Isla Bonita on Saturday, March 17, 2018 for their grand victory rally. Hon. Dean Barrow was welcomed by Mayor Daniel Guerrero and his councillors along with Minister Manuel Heredia Jr. a crowd of UDP Supporters. They paraded through the main streets of San Pedro and then held their grand victory rally at the Hon. Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex.
Students Impress at SPHS Business Fair
From Medical Plazas, taquerias, dessert pizzas, beauty face masks to entertainment centers, the ideas for new business ventures for the island of Ambergris Caye were free flowing at San Pedro High School's Business Fair. Senior and junior students were given the opportunity to show off their marketing skills by creating a product/business and putting it up for display and sale at the fair that was held today, March 16, 2018.

A Quinceaños celebration is very special to a young lady as she commences her transition from childhood to adulthood. Child Stimulation Month 2018 Opens with Parade
Child Stimulation Month 2018 kicked off countrywide under the theme "Birth to Eight - Children must Play". Pre-Schools on the island celebrated the opening of Child Stimulation Month with a parade throught the main streets of San Pedro. Children were in colorful costumes displaying, social workers, National Symbols of Belize, Colors, Shapes, Numbers, the Weather, Farm Animals, Domestic Animals and so much more. San Pedro RC Church Hosts Fun Family Day
On Sunday, February 11, 2018, the San Pedro Roman Catholic Church held a very special mass for the community as "Family Day" was celebrated. After the 10am Mass families were invited to participate in a fun filled day as there were games, performances and lots to eat and drink. Father Scott delivered special blessings to families in attendance and blessing were given to families that posted their pictures on a special wall created for family day. Special thanks goes out to everyone who gave a donation in order for this special day to take place.
Love is in the Air - Ayuso/Montano Wedding
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Ayuso and Montano families along with friends celebrated the marriage of Luis and Sandra Ayuso at the San Pedro RC Church followed by a lovely reception at the Lions Den. Godparents of the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Eiley. It was a night full of love and happiness. Congratulations to the lovely couple on this Valentine's Day!
San Pedro House of Culture Hosts Carnaval Photo Exhibit
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, The San Pedro House of Culture opened its photo exhibit of the 'Grand Carnaval de San Pedro'. Those in attendance enjoyed the great music of of Mr. Wil Nunez and his 7-year-old grandson Alexus Nunez. The photo exhibit has pictures of old comparsas (dancing groups) and up to present day comparsas. The public is invited to visit the photo exhibit at the San Pedro House of Cultutre and enjoy viewing the beautiful pictures and information on the Grand Carnaval of San Pedro.

A talking magical juke box takes the students of The Island Academy on musical history of Christmas Music. With song, dance and music the students of The Island Academy once again put on a spectabular Christmas Pageant that this year was open to the public. San Pedro First Boutique Bed and Breakfast Holds Special Preview
It had been under construction for some time now and everyone passing by kept wondering what was behind those giant walls. This past weekend Ambergris Today and invited guests were invited to a special pre-opening preview of what is behind those walls. It’s an oasis along the busy streets of Coconut Drive - Diamond Lodge is the island’s first Boutique Lifestyle Bed & Breakfast located on island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.
Foreva Fancy's Christmas Fashion Show
Rounding up the fun-filled evening that was Love FM's Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 10, 2017, was Foreva Fancy's annual Christmas Fahion Show that took place at Central Park immediately following the parade. Central Park was flooded with spectators who gathered around the giant Christmas Tree as Foreva Fancy models showcased the latest clothing at the boutique. Additional entertainment was provided with musical numbers by the San Pedro Dance Academy and songs by Elina Palma.
SPTC Presents Township Poster Competition Winners
In commemoration of San Pedro's 33rd Township Anniversary the San Pedro Town Council held a poster competition where schools in the island were invited to participate. On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, Mayor Daniel Guerrero presented the top three winners of the poster competition and they are as follows: 1st Place - Isla Bonita Elementary School - Ashley Wallace, Geneive Ramirez and Jay Arcul (In the headline picture) 2nd Place - The Island Academy - Lauren Turley 3rd Place - The Island Academy - Madison Edwards and Gabriella Knox
San Pedro Town Council Holds Lighting of Christmas Tree
‘Tis the Season to be Jolly! The San Pedro Town Council held its official lighting ceremony of the Town’s Christmas Tree on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Central Park. It was fun-filled event which island residents and tourists enjoyed as they joyfully counted down together for the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
