The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute would like to invite the public to presentations and discussion on Belize’s Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan. This national Plan is mandated under the Coastal Zone Management Act. It determines the suitability of coastal land use, and outlines recommendations for sustainable development along the entire coastal zone of Belize, including 3-kilometers inland from the coastline, and all of the cayes.
The ICZM Plan has been under preparation for the past year, with input from local residents, scientific experts, and government agencies. We now need your input on the preliminary results of the ecosystem service models, in order to help finalize the Plan.
The ICZM Plan has nine designated planning regions. Please join us at the community meeting for your region on the 29th of March 2012. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Lion’s Den in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Visit the CZMAI website (www.coastalzonebelize.org) and add CZMAI on your Facebook page for updates.
