Farewell Pete Graniel

We mourn the loss of a fabulous man of this community- a fisherman and also tourist guide.  We celebrate the life of a fantastic husband and father- Pedro “Pete” Graniel Jr.

Pete was born on the feast day of Saint Peter the apostle and fisherman and was aptly given the name of Pedro, which means The Rock.  He indeed was the rock of his family and was a grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend whom everyone got to love.  Blessed with a great sense of humor, Pete sought to make those around him laugh or at least smile as a means of making them and himself happy.  Also blessed with tremendous charisma, Pete was able to embrace many tourists and enticed them to return time and time again. Indeed he was a man who loved the sea; no wonder he earned himself the title, “King of Wahoo”.

San Pedro will miss you Pete, but at the same time we shall all celebrate your spirit, kindness, loving spirit and great sense of humor.  May his soul rest in peace and rise in the glory of God’s kingdom.

He is survived by his wife Ofelia Graniel. Children: Alfonso, Pedro, Rosa and Olive Graniel.
Grand Children: Alfonse Graniel, Niki Graniel, Genzo Nuñez, Alyin Nuñez, Rina Godoy and Robert Stewart. Great Grand Children: Azheila Nuñez.
